The question of whether the Bible is truth or tabloid is quite interesting. In today’s modern media, we receive new information daily; however, we challenge the Bible as if it too were written today. The Bible was written over the course of 1500 years, by over 40 different authors, on three different continents, in three different languages, and yet it still holds a more consistent and historically accurate storyline than this morning’s headline news.

The Bible has been accused of being mythology, ridiculed for being inaccurate and irrelevant for today. However, the Bible has been challenged, studied and analyzed more than all other books combined and it still comes out accurate and relevant to billions. Have we considered that issues with the Bible may be more of a moral challenge? Many would say that we should not bring morality and ethics into our study of the Bible and its message.

That would be like asking the astrophysicist to ignore the heat of the Sun while considering what it’s made of.

It is odd that people are willing to believe tabloid news written in a modern publication, but aren’t willing to base their moral code and belief system on a series of scrutinized books, written thousands of years ago, let alone having been given by God. If you want to read the Bible as tabloid, then try “The Tabloid Bible” by Nick Page, an amusing book of bible stories written in “National Enquirer” style.
