The Bible is the best resource available to help us live successful lives. With its timeless truths and principles, the ancient Scriptures teach us how to live life to the fullest and enjoy peace and harmony...

If there is a lack of peace in your home – the kids are at it again or you are feeling tension with your spouse – one Bible verse alone will revolutionize your life. If you’re tired of the arguing, fighting, bickering, and insults, one verse – if practiced – will alter the relational climate of your home.

Here’s my suggestion. Call a time out. Hold a family meeting and tell everyone that as a family, you have decided to make this one verse your modus operandi. Print this verse in large letters and put it on the mirror in your bathroom, your refrigerator, and other places in your house.

Tell everyone, “We’re just going to learn to practice one Bible verse this summer, and this one verse is going to be our mode of functioning and relating to one another.”

Here’s the verse.

“Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.”
1 Corinthians 10:24

Imagine what would happen if everyone in your family decided to just live out this one verse and worked on being less self-centered and more others-centered.

Practical Ways to Seek the Good of Others:

1. Kids – offer to help your brothers, sisters, or parents with household chores. Always be looking for ways to lend a hand.

2. Ask how others are doing. Show that you care for their feelings. As Mother Theresa once said, “Love begins by taking care of the closest ones… the ones at home.”

3. Take a genuine interest in what matters to other family members. Parents, take time to connect with what’s important to your kids in their world.

Don’t limit yourselves to these suggestions. As a family, brainstorm how you serve each other and treat one another with kindness and respect. This one Bible verse can change your lives and help bring harmony and peace to your home.
