Good News at Six Flags for Summer Travelers
Six Flags Magic Mountain is bursting at the seams with a whole lineup of excitement and fun for everyone! NEW this spring… the Park’s most popular coaster X is being launched into a new dimension and will reopen as X2 on May 24, complete with new sleeker trains, new colors, and a State-Of-The-Art Sight and Sound experience. Also, beloved children’s icon Thomas The Tank Engine™ and his friends pull into the all new Thomas TownSM on June 6… it’s a whole new area for families to enjoy together!
“X2 and Thomas Town are part of a very exciting season we have planned for 2008, as we continue our mission of making Six Flags synonymous with an entertainment experience that delivers thrills for the entire family,” said Jay Thomas, Six Flags Magic Mountain Park President. “For our more adventurous guests, we have taken our one-of-a-kind coaster, X, and delivered a whole new extreme experience with X2, while young children and their parents can spend quality time together in our new Thomas Town. Six Flags Magic Mountain has been thrilling guests and making family memories for over 37 years and our new additions will help us continue to do so for years to come!”
Six Flags Magic Mountain is also home to your favorite Looney Tunes and Justice League characters…keep your camera and autograph books handy, these characters love to play with guests! Plus, awesome shows like the CSI: Live! (debuts June 13) And Batman Begins Stunt Show (May 24) round out the day’s fun!
Launching Into A
New Galaxy
X, the world’s first 4th dimensional thrill ride, is once again pushing
all limits and taking extreme to the next level on May 24. This $10 million
investment features completely redesigned, sleeker trains and introduces
all-new, innovative state-of-the-art visual, audio and sensory effects, X
will move from the 4th dimension to the 5th and become X2!
“Since it opened in 2002, X, with its 360° rotating seats and head-first, face down drops, has been one of the most popular thrill rides on the planet,” stated Tim Burkhart, Six Flags Magic Mountain General Manager. “With the redesign, X2 will take even the most daring riders on a journey to a unique and unchartered dimension of extreme only Six Flags Magic Mountain can deliver.”
Unlike traditional coasters where trains only parallel the track, X sends riders screaming around its 3,600-foot maze of steel track aboard massive wing-shaped trains where the seats extend off the track to the sides of the vehicle allowing them to independently rotate guests head over heels, forward and backward creating a one-of-a-kind “don’t know what to expect next” sensation. X2 launches the extreme thrills of X into a new dimension with the addition of a unique sight & sound experience. X2 is one of 14 coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain – Southern California’s leader in thrills!
All Aboard!
A newly-created Thomas & Friends
themed area called Thomas TownSM, will open on June 6. Designed to entertain
children of all ages, Thomas Town centers around a train ride on a Thomas
the Tank Engine™ replica that transports guests on a journey through Thomas’ home
on the Island of Sodor. Visitors will be greeted by Sir Topham HattSM, the
Controller of the Railway, who is also available to pose for photos with
Thomas fans. In addition to other attractions, the area features a Thomas & Friends
store.
With Thomas & Friends, children enter a world of imagination through the tracks of a train and the words of a story. As children engage in fun with their engine friends, adventures unfold that lead to timeless life lessons. Parents and children enjoy a unique connection on every journey.
With the addition of Thomas Town, Six Flags Magic Mountain now includes over 30 rides and attractions for children and their families to enjoy together.
“We are very excited to welcome Thomas Town to Six Flags Magic Mountain,” stated Jay Thomas, Six Flags Magic Mountain Park President. “This beloved character has engaged and inspired preschoolers’ imaginations for more than six decades and will certainly offer a rich, exciting world for children and their parents to enjoy, as families look for more ways to spend quality time together.”
More Quality Time for the Family
In addition to Thomas TownSM, Bugs
Bunny World is a six-acre, interactive
wonderland featuring numerous rides and attractions that will provide a real
thrill for kids and adults alike. Designed for the pint-sized guests, Bugs
Bunny World is the home of legendary Looney Tunes characters such as Daffy
Duck, Yosemite Sam, Sylvester, Foghorn Leghorn and America’s favorite
rabbit, Bugs Bunny. Attractions include Daffy’s Adventure Tours, Merrie
Melodies Carousel, Pepe Le Pew Tea Party and many others.
Friends & Family Icon
This year, look for the Friends & Family icon throughout the Park for
recommended attractions for everyone in your group. The icon is on the 2008
Park Map & Guide and clearly indicates attractions kids and adults can
enjoy together like the Historical Sky Tower where 37 years of park history
are on display in the new “Magic of the Mountain” museum.
CSI: LIVE!
The world’s number one television franchise is about to hit the stage
with an exciting, interactive journey through the fascinating world of crime
scene investigations when CSI: LIVE! debuts on June 13 at Six
Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA. CSI: LIVE! is the latest Mad Science® production
at the Valencia theme park.
Based on the top-rated CBS television series, park guests will become a part of the adventure as CSI: Live! incorporates cutting-edge forensic science, audience interaction and amazing visual effects into a fast-paced, entertaining “whodunit.”
“We are pleased to be partnering with such a powerhouse brand,” said Dan Weinberg, Six Flags Vice President of Entertainment. “CSI: Live will be a big hit with park guests and will further diversify an already great entertainment lineup at Six Flags Magic Mountain.”
When a crime is committed at the Las Vegas premiere of the Max Spade Magic Show, the CSI team springs into action. Sydney Mathis and David Hart play the roles of CSI investigators and are on the case, assisted by supervisor Gil Grissom through a live video connection from the Las Vegas Crime Lab. As the story unfolds, audience members become part of the action; acting as witnesses, suspects and CSI recruits. Together they will use their logic and forensic know-how to uncover hidden details, investigate the evidence and test their theories. Whether it’s analyzing mysterious gasses, launching projectiles into a target, or firing a laser beam across the stage, the CSI recruits will have to be on their toes to help solve the crime before it’s too late.
CSI: Live! is guaranteed to ramp up the thrill factor for guests of all ages (age appropriate for ages 8 and older). Featuring audience interaction, cool technology and unique special effects, this 30-minute adventure will entertain and educate CSI and park fans alike.
