When the Bobby Rich Morning
MIX heard that Good News Tucson is celebrating 20 years, they decided
to team up to pick a special song that all 3 agree is, “inspiring,
encouraging, heart-lifting and positive.”
BR: “First of all—“ (All 3 shout): “Happy
20th Anniversary G.N.T.!” (Mrs. Grant laughs)
BR: “Now let’s talk music…as a
morning radio show host, I personally find ANY song that begins with
lyrics that talk about ‘the morning’ and ‘waking
up’ to be some of my favorites! Plus we live in Tucson—you
know its goin’ to be ‘ clear day, in this city.’ We
love Streetcorner Symphony!”
MG: “I enjoy the uplifting feel of the song.
The lyrics make me think of our ‘little radio family’ as
we sometimes refer to ourselves, because we seem to dance around in
the studio when we hear this song together.”
GC: “Well, you guys always tease me about loving
songs for the music more than the lyrics, but this one has both a head-bobbing,
get out-ya’ seat type of groove AND it’s welcoming and
inclusive, like a neighborhood block party! ‘Come on over, Down
to the corner, My sisters and my brothers of every different color.’ Throw
in a great guitar solo from John Mayer and you gotta admit--that’s
good stuff!”
Rob
Thomas - Streetcorner Symphony lyrics
Album: Something To Be
It's morning
I wake up
The taste of summer sweetness on my mind
It's a clear day
In this city
Let's go dance under the street lights
All the people in this world
Let's come together
More than ever
I can feel it
Can you feel it
Come on over
Down to the corner
My sisters and my brothers of every different color
Can't you feel that sunshine telling you to hold tight
Things will be alright
Try to find a better life
Come on over
Down to the corner
My sisters and my brothers there for one another
Come on over
Man I know you wanna let yourself go…
