“Perfection Is For the Birds
And Even They Don’t Get It Right”
“Trying to be perfect will drive you insane,” Ned told me. I was feeling crazy trying to cope with everything: my precious Mom was close to going home to Jesus, my daughter was ill, relatives were arriving soon, and our daughters had just left. I felt sad, frustrated, angry and hopeless.
I tried to pray the right things, do the right things, act like a Christian, but I felt like an over-heated light bulb ready to explode.

Overwhelmed, I sat down to read the book “The Relief of Imperfection” by Joan Webb.
Right away she had my attention: “Do you try too hard to make it all just right?” Yes!! Then, every page screamed.... RELAX! I even looked up the word perfection and latched onto one of the meanings... complete!
Growing up as an only child (and an over-achiever) of divorced parents, my insecurities had pushed me to achieving excellence in everything, but it was impossible! There’s always one more hurdle to go.
When I gave my heart to Jesus, He made me complete in Him. Soaring like an eagle, looking down on my trials and choosing wisely would be nice, but I’m more like the robin - sometimes flying OK, sometimes smashing into trees. I’ll let Jesus be my eagle and be relieved to just be me.
Love ya,
Kathy
