New Territory
Entering new territory is challenging and often very scary. If I were going to make a trip to China, I would buy a book on the customs of that region. If I were going to do business with them, I would go as far as learning their methods and practices. Of course, knowing the language would make it a LOT easier, but may not be practical at first. So I would at least hire an interpreter.
In the same way, if I want to have a new life, if I want to have a better life than the one I have now, I must be prepared to learn new ways. If I insist on doing things the way I have always done them, I can always expect the same result. However, if I am praying and believing God for something better in my life, then I must be prepared to think and behave in a new way.
Romans 12:2 says: "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will."
The old way won't work in the new place any more than doing business the American way in a Chinese culture will. Oh, it may work for a short while, but it will never manifest large success.
If you have "tried" Christianity and thought, "It just doesn't work," would you consider these words: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are my ways your ways," declares the Lord. (Isaiah 55:8)
God has a perfect plan for each of us. We prohibit His perfect plan from manifesting in our lives when we try to do it our way, on our timing and in our own strength.
Pick up the Book (the Bible), learn His ways, allow the way you think to be changed by it, and you will find success!
