Behaviors That Make You Or Break You
Adam said to God, "I want a perfect companion. She needs to be kind, serving, loving, fun, hard-working and patient. God answered, "Now that, my son, will cost you an arm and a leg." Adam replied, "So what do I get for a rib?"
So, how about you? How much are you willing to give for excellence? Do you have goals and dreams for yourself, your family and your community for which you have really striven? Have you set deadlines for these goals and dreams (a goal without a deadline is a wish)? Are you living to your full potential? Are you really able to answer these questions with an honest “yes”? Summer is a great time to be asking yourself these questions. Are you going to enjoy quality time with your family or are you going to “go through the motions”?
6 BEHAVIORS THAT MAKE YOU OR BREAK YOU
Patience.
The ability to wait for results, the fruits of your labor. There is no process
that does not take time. We need to accept the fact that we cannot always
have it when we want it.
Discipline.
This is the ability to follow through on the activities you know are necessary
to become successful in your life.
Attitude Control.
The ability to not be swayed by the wind. To not let your tongue or your emotions
out of control when you are affected by outside events.
Focus/Attention.
The ability to see tasks through to the end at 100%, not stopping, or being
pulled left or right by distraction. Satan’s ultimate goal is to distract
you so that you lose your focus.
Serving God/Helping People.
The ability to think of not only yourself or what is in it for you, but what
serves God, and helps the world.
Endurance/Longevity.
No matter how well you do any of these things, what really matters in the end
is if you keep them up. Everybody can run for 10 seconds, wait for the microwave
to beep, or make it to church three Sundays a month. But few people can continually
improve on these behaviors and be consistent for the long haul.
The less ability you have to FOLLOW THROUGH in any of these areas, the more you will fail in your life. You must destroy these inabilities!
Olympians, top executives, respected clergy, Saints, Jesus, Moses, and all the people that have helped to shape our world all had the ability to follow through with these behaviors.
Failing in these behaviors is human frailty. When you fail at these you create excuses, justifications, complaints, whining, arguments, anger, hostility, depression and judgment.
For example: Chiropractors
work with people on their diet, exercise and spinal cord correction. Lack
of discipline, patience, focus on health, consistency
or endurance in their programs will cause people to fail to become well or
achieve the level of health they desired. Unfortunately, those people often
blame someone or something else…
Remember, accepting responsibility for your own life and living to your full
potential is the best way to thank God for life.
