Calling All Buglers
The Southern Arizona VA is participating in the national Echo Taps project.
A worldwide musical performance of Taps, on Armed Forces Day and Memorial
Day, will honor our veterans.
Cinco de Mayo
Promote healthy minds, bodies and sober recreation at COPE's celebration on
May 11. Be a chaperone, crowd mingler, food server, greeter, clean-up crew
and more. Call 551-2488.

Birthday Cards
Make an ill person's day brighter. An interfaith HIV/AIDS network needs someone
to monitor birthdates in a database, have staff sign cards, and mail them
weekly.
Bilingual Tutor
Caring adults can help Spanish speakers overcome illiteracy by teaching reading
and writing to several adult students in their own language.
Meet Your Town
Chat with callers to determine their volunteer interests and find matches in
a database. It's easy and behind-the-scenes; mornings or afternoons.
Literacy Tutors with Stipend
Sign up now for fall positions as a reading tutor for children in K - 3. Limited
spots available! Volunteers working 15 hours receive a stipend. Ages 55 and
older.
Prayer Shawls
Knit or crochet prayer shawls for someone with a life-limiting illness. As
you create the shawl you pray for the person who will receive it.
Mail Clerk
Use office machines and equipment to prepare mailings in a southside state
office. Other duties include filing, operating a postage machine and photocopying.
An orientation and interview, at the Volunteer Center, is required. Call
881-3300 ext 107.
Volunteers In Service To America
There are several VISTA positions open at the Volunteer Center. One, leading
and coordinating VISTA project teams, requires a prior year of AmeriCorps experience.
Other VISTA positions focus on disaster preparedness or school-based literacy
programs. VISTAs receive a living stipend, education award, and health plan.
Lights, Cameras, Action!
After certification in a studio camera class you can run cameras on shows and
build film crew skills by creating public television programs.
Drivers in Catalina
Deliver meals to the homebound or visit with seniors while driving them to
the doctor or grocery store.
Paperwork Liaison
Coordinate details, dates and documents to ensure delivery of meals to homebound
clients. Friday afternoons.
Cancer Services
Patients and others appreciate a caring response when they call for support,
information, or programs from the American Cancer Society. Clear communication
and confidentiality is required.
Case Management Aide
Significantly improve the quality of life for the elderly by supporting staff
work.
Educational Tours
Engage summer school groups in an interactive style that emphasizes the historic
context of the Titan Missile Museum. Ongoing training gives you confidence
about the exhibits and the ability to connect with young people.
Childcare Assistant
Plan activities and supervise children during adult support group sessions.
Ages of the children vary. Evenings in mid-town.
Drive When You Want
People living with seizure disorders need occasional transportation for errands
or appointments. You choose the schedule.
Business Mentors
Share your expertise advising and coaching entrepreneurs. Set goals and provide
guidance, support and direction. Mentors are matched with protégés
and meet about 3 hours per month.
English Tutor
Work individually or with groups, ages 16 and over, to teach basic English
reading or speaking skills.
