Global Day Of Prayer 2007 by Don Blascak

On Pentecost Sunday, May 27, 2007, the nations of the world will once again unite in the Global Day of Prayer. On the Christian calendar, Pentecost Sunday is the 50th day after Passover. Churches throughout the world are being encouraged to dedicate a portion of Pentecost weekend services to Global Prayer.

Often we see the world's problems as too difficult to comprehend or beyond our scope of concern. On this one day, if not every day, let's raise a massive chorus of prayer, asking our Creator to intervene in these days of need. Some prayer intervention considerations:

Genocide in Darfur, killing an estimated 2 million.
Starvation and the persecuted church in North Korea.
Sectarian violence in Iraq and an end to the conflict.
Human Rights violations all over the world.
High infant and maternal mortality rate in Afghanistan and an end to that conflict.
Use of child soldiers in Myanmar and the more than 300,000 child soldiers in wars world wide.
Millions in need of help in the wake of war, famine, disease and floods in Somalia.
Millions in need of help to survive the violence in the Eastern Congo.
The exploitation of more than a million children exploited in the global sex trade each year.
The 15 million children orphaned by AIDS world wide.
The 30,000 children that die each day due to poverty.

In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God's promise is that our humility, prayer and repentance will lead to the healing of nations. Pray for the leadership of all nations that they may be enlightened, seek wisdom and discernment.
