Give Me The Words To Speak
Aaron Shust

Aaron Shust

K-LOVE listeners have been singing along in their cars and at many churches throughout Tucson to songs from a new artist named Aaron Shust. Aaron learned to play the guitar as a teenage and was influenced by the sounds of the sixties and Motown. In college, Aaron studied music theory and learned to love the likes of Bach, Mozart, and his favorite band - U2. These contemporary influences are found on his latest CD entitled Whispered and Shouted. From that album, the praise and worship song "Give Me the Words To Speak" is currently a chart topping hit on K-LOVE.

The heart of the song "Give Me The Words To Speak" is found in the following words:

Calloused and bruised/ dazed and confused
My Spirit is left wanting something more
Than my selfish hopes/ and my selfish dreams
I'm lying with my face down to the floor
I'm crying out for more
Give me Words to speak
Don't let my Spirit sleep

Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Israel Kamakawiwo Ole'

When I read this section in last month's issue of Good News Tucson about picking an "inspiring, encouraging, heart-lifting, positive" song, I immediately thought of the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Not just any version though, I particularly enjoy the version recorded by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole aka "IZ". This recording is a medley of two great songs, "Over the Rainbow" and "What a Wonderful World". The lyrics are encouraging and positive and the rhythm of the music coupled with the sound of the ukulele, bring a feeling of serenity and peace. The song is just so beautiful and heart-lifting.

…The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying, I...I love you…

…Someday I'll wish upon a star,
Wake up where the clouds are far
behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top that's
where you'll find me
Oh, Somewhere over the rainbow
way up high
And the dream that you dare to,
why, oh why can't I?
