The Pima Air & Space Museum is looking for air and space enthusiasts to serve as volunteers in a variety of positions. The museum is located at 6000 E. Valencia Rd., approximately 5 miles from the Tucson International Airport. It has the largest collection of airplanes, space, and aviation memorabilia west of the Rockies. The museum attracts more than 200,000 visitors each year.

Brook Sklenar, Volunteer Coordinator at the museum, says there are many benefits to volunteering at the museum, including being surrounded by so many pieces of history.

“The biggest benefit for volunteering at the Pima Air and Space museum is being able to talk to and meet so many people from all over the world,” says Sklenar.

Sklenar also says, “If someone was considering volunteering at the museum I would like for them to know that it is an extremely fun experience with lots of opportunities through out the museum to participate in.”

Volunteers will go through an orientation and a training program. Opportunities are available as docents, tram drivers, and in exhibits, restoration and the museum store. No particular experience or background is necessary. Volunteers should be available a minimum of 4 hours per week. For more information, contact Brook Sklenar, Volunteer Coordinator, at 520-618-4819 or bsklenar@pimaair.org.

The museum is part of the Arizona Aerospace Foundation, which also includes the Challenger Learning Center of the Southwest, the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame, and the Titan Missile Museum.
