Fun at the Front Desk
Work morning shifts at the friendly Volunteer Center.  Meet interesting people, on the phone or as “walk-ins”, and match them to volunteer positions using a database.  We'll train you on the database, and if you have computer skills we'll find projects to interest you. Simpler duties include opening mail and taking phone messages.  A smile and excellent phone skills are essential.

Math and Reading
Caring adults who've mastered math and reading at the high school level can tutor kids in grades K - 8 to keep them at grade level.

AmeriCorps Members for Youth Programs
Full-time AmeriCorps members design and implement service learning projects for teens.  Benefits include an annual living allowance and education award.  Creativity, flexibility and commitment are the only requirements; you’ll develop program management skills, enjoy teens, and make community connections.

Preschool Storytime
Read a book of your choice to preschoolers at day care centers; use puppets or props if you like.

Wine Tasting and Silent Auction
Raise funds for Ronald McDonald House.  Working in teams, volunteers will help set up and run the event on Friday, September 28.

Space Docents
Inspire future generations with the beauty of flight by guiding school groups on tours at an air and space museum.  Tour content is tailored to the group's age and interests.

Mentor
Share your creativity and cultural knowledge to help a middle school student academically.

Library Assistant
Promote reading by helping in a school library.  Check books in and out and keep the library organized.

Make Reading a Habit
Volunteers 16 and older use a literacy program for children waiting for well-checks at a southside hospital.  The program is designed for infants through 5 years, the crucial period for reading to become a cherished habit.

C'est bon!
French is the fourth most spoken language in Tucson, so Alliance Francaise is developing community classes.  Volunteers do not need to know French but leadership skills such as human resources, fundraising, law, or general educational knowledge are important at this point.

Tutor Orientation
Monthly orientations offer information on tutoring eager adults in reading, writing and speaking English.  A one year commitment is requested, with a 12 hour workshop and 4 hours of tutoring per week.

Art Docent
Do you have imagination, listening and conversing skills, and respect for diverse art and cultures?  The UA Museum of Art requires a two year commitment and offers excellent training.  Recruiting now!

Domestic Violence Outreach
Answering busy crisis phones puts you in direct contact with victims of domestic violence.  Offer information and support in a fast-paced environment.

Computer Instructors or Learners, Age 50+
Share your computer wisdom in a small classroom setting.  Each volunteer instructor has two assistants.  Patience and friendliness are essential because many students are first-time computer users.

Arizona History
Docents at Arizona Historical Society enjoy rewarding interactions with children and adults and receive training in regional history and field trips.   Weekday or weekend hours are available.  Applications are accepted now for fall training. Call 617-1154.

Health Department Drivers
Provide on-call support for the Mobile Medical and Dental Clinics.  You'll drive a 35 foot motor home, just like vacation, and will be responsible for vehicle maintenance.
