Help! My Mind Has Been Hijacked!

There are so many things in this world that compete for our attention. Life tends to just get in the way of relationships in general, but particularly as it relates to one with God. Distractions are a tool of the enemy to hijack our minds.

Matthew 13:7 says; "Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plant." Later Jesus tells us that the "thorns" are the cares of this world… loosely translated, distractions that hijack our minds.

I want a personal relationship with God. Not just one on Sunday. I absolutely love feeling like I've spoken with the Creator of the Universe. The challenge is remembering that He exists in the middle of "life". I have discovered this requires deliberate action on my part. God is not going to be on the top of my mind if I am not DETERMINED to keep Him there. I must make the time to sit with God, even if it is for just a moment.

Distractions are not ever going away! I have even dismissed the delusion that being a minister would some how keep my mind on God! Our job as believers who want to excel and have the life God intended for us is to learn how to discipline our minds to spend time with God in the middle of our busy schedules.

I love the way the Amplified Bible says it in Philippians 4:7: And God's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Become determined to take back your mind!
