Pastor Ellie Davidian grew up a devout Shiite Muslim in Iran, and experienced
the horror of the Ayatollah Khomeni's reign and the war with Iraq in the
1980's. She experienced first-hand the torture and murder of loved ones by
the Iranian regime. When Ellie's parents noticed her deep inner sorrow, they
were concerned and sent her to France, and then to America to finish college.
There she had the opportunity to see the JESUS film in Farsi, her native
language. She noticed that the JESUS film contradicted the teaching of the
Koran about Jesus Christ, and said to herself, "Something is wrong.
Somebody has to have lied." As a Muslim, Ellie had been taught to deny
the facts of the Gospel and that those who believe in Christ as the Bible
presents Him, as Lord and God, are cursed by Allah and going to hell.
Then Ellie met some Iranian Christians who gave her a New Testament. The
Jesus Christ of the New Testament was unlike anyone she had ever known, heard
of, or read about. On January 1st, 1994, Ellie asked God to reveal to her
the truth. In a dream, Jesus appeared to her and said, "Why do you have
so much doubt in Me? Believe in Me." Soon after, Ellie prayed to receive
Jesus into her heart as Lord and Savior!
Ellie is the founder of He Sets Free Ministries. Her goal is to reach the
lost, especially Muslims, reaching their hearts and sharing Christ's unfailing
love with them. She married Sourik Davidian in 1997, and together they have
been training believers around the world about the reality of Islam and how
to minister to Muslims. By satellite television, they are ministering the
Gospel in Farsi to Iran and other Farsi-speaking areas.
During a recent visit to Tucson, Ellie spoke with believers from a diverse
mix of denominations and backgrounds, including local churches and at the
University of Arizona. She shared about her ministry to Muslims in the Middle
East and the great revival that is happening among Iranians.
