Country and Western's Singing Cowboy

By Travis Kelly

In the musical world today, Country and Western Music is just called Country. The singing cowboys of yesterday, guys like Roy and Gene, were the early stars of Country and Western Music. Country and Western music was nothing more than a good man or woman feeling down; it spoke of happy and sad times, loved ones, and the way it was in the good old days. The songs relate to a lifestyle that most of the listeners have experienced at some point in their lives.

Now, the songs are the same, newer artists have replaced the old ones, and yes, people still do relate to the music. It's sad to see the greats like Gene and Roy gone, but the tradition lives through the singing cowboys of today. Living in Arizona, there is not a shortage of Country acts to see. They all come through from Don Williams (who has since retired from touring) to Alan Jackson.

Alan Jackson will be in the valley of the sun on October 7th, 2007 at the Cricket Pavilion in Phoenix with Brooks and Dunn. If you are looking for theatrics or pyrotechnics they won't be with Alan Jackson. Alan is backed by the Strayhorns when he tours. The band even features a pedal steel guitar player and a harmonica player. He sings songs you know by heart - the singer, the guitarist, and his band playing hits for his fans.

The crowd will be dancing and singing and Alan will make them feel at home. This is the same Alan Jackson who hit number 1 with "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning", right after 9/11. In concert, Alan Jackson performs the greatest hits of his recordings.

Alan Jackson has had 11 number 1 albums and counting. The album Precious Memories released in 2006 was even number 1 on the US Gospel Charts. He has had 22 number one hits on the charts. Three times I have seen Alan Jackson and I keep telling myself I would see him again and again. My wife and I have been and I have even taken my grandparents to see him live. Yes - my grandparents, who swear by Patsy Cline and Hank Sr!

Parents, take your children to see a man who believes in his country.

Alan Jackson is a modern day singing cowboy in Country and Western music. A traditional storyteller through the songs he sings. A man who looks the part (singing cowboy, that is) and entertains in the style of Johnny, Waylon, and Willie.

On October 7th, the lights will go down and the roar of the crowd will rise. The spotlight will shine on a man and his guitar and he will go to work playing the songs that touch your heart and bring back memories. Once again, Alan Jackson will bring Country and Western Music to Arizona.
