Conviction Of The Heart
I've always been very concerned about the state of our environment and try to do what I can every day to make a difference, whether it be taking my own bags to the grocery store or turning the thermostat up a few degrees in the summer. That commitment got even stronger when I had my daughter, Sydney, three years ago. I am more focused on what kind of legacy we are leaving for the next generations. When I first heard Kenny Loggins', Conviction Of The Heart, I was overwhelmed by how powerful it's message was about our planet. He even wrote in the liner notes, "I feel this to be a statement of commitment and connectedness to the earth." Not only is the song beautiful musically, the lyrics inspire me to continue my quest to make a difference. In fact, the whole album, Leap Of Faith, is inspirational on so many levels. I highly recommend it. LYRICS:

David Crowder
dishes with K-LOVE
K-LOVE: You're an amazing writer. How did you get your love for words? David: I started reading in the second grade when I won the balloon contest as a super reader. It was a reading contest and the person who read the most books got a balloon for every book they read. And then we got to put our names in the balloons and then release them, which is horrible! We would never allow for such a thing to be done now. I spent days and days in the library accumulating books. I wanted to win and get the most balloons. I just wanted the balloons. I fell in love with reading later. I really love the English language now. K-LOVE: You started David Crowder Band to make music that college students could relate to. Has that purpose changed? David: I would find it a little less in terms of college students now, but it's still a church we're at and a collection of people in Waco, Texas that we know and live life with. But still my attempt is to articulate faith through music in that locale. The reason I said college students is we were college students. So that's kind of broadened a bit, now it's more like the same group of people, but life is different than it was then. K-LOVE: And now you're reaching the world. David: Yeah, I try to not think about that too much. I think if you start catering and creating with that in mind, that what you create changes. For some people that has been amazing, but for us it seems more like our heart is in that locale (at our church in Waco, Texas) so let's just keep making music for these people in this locale and if it's accessible and meaningful to people outside of this space, then fantastic!
