With our family, church, and school commitments; and with our ever-growing to-do lists, the focused time we are able to spend with our children is so important. Much more is "caught" by our children than is taught. In order for them to catch our values, they need to be able to observe us living our values.
Whether you are a grandparent, relative, Mom, or Dad, there are precious teachable moments that happen in our children's lives. These projects will take less than an hour to complete, use minimal supplies, and be a way to share some teachable moments.
It is fall and we have experienced the blessing of cooler temperatures. These fall themed crafts will enable you to celebrate the change in seasons. These simple crafts use household items.
Pumpkin Seed Flowers
What you need:
1. Glue the pumpkin seeds in a circle on round cardboard with the points of the seeds facing out.
2. Then glue a second row of seeds inside the first row. Continue until you have filled the inside of the flower. Let dry. You can paint the seeds in the middle a different color and the outside seeds any color you want. You can also use beans for the center of the flower.
What you need:
1. After you mix all of the ingredients together, refrigerate for five-10 minutes.
2. Flatten the dough on a counter with a slightly floured rolling pin. Cut the dough using various shaped cookie cutters or make clay-like creations. Allow to air-dry overnight.
3. If potpourri is too large, place in zip lock bag and crush with rolling pin before mixing into step one.
4. Can decorate dried items with acrylic paint and display for nicely-scented room accents.
